Project Up Date 10/03/2017
Last week I walked some of the art exhibition featured on campus. The gallery by the @one has a serious of book and map collections on display. In the photo above is a piece done by my favorite book artist Julie Chen. This work is an accordion style book designed with pockets. In each pocket is a tag with a type of plant on it.
My idea is to take this accordion style book, similar to Julie Chen's piece, and tailor it to my theme. Each pocket will have several written messages in each about consent and the stages of sex education. The materials I will need are the standard required to create a book. I have watched tutorials on YouTube and have reached out to my Book Arts 414 teacher to see if she could help when I eventually get struck.
The second part of my project is to incorporate what I have watched into my project. At first, I thought I would create a digital short about consent. However, there is a lot of information out there from people who know a lot more about this issue then I do. Which is why I thought I would incorporate GIS mapping into my project. On the map, there will be videos about consent, and article GPS tagged. With a QR code I could link each important video and/or article I find into a unique inactive map.
The QR code would be displayed by the visual book for the viewer to see and explore more.
